I currently head software development at the prop trading desk of an investment bank. I am responsible for a semi-high frequency trading infrastructure that supports algorithmic trading strategies as well as manual trading. My event-driven Python applications trade according to market microstructure analysis.
I have a degree in financial mathematics and have been writing code in various languages for the past 13 years. Unsurprisingly, the abstract mathematical training really helps with good software design.
I am proficient in Python, PostgreSQL, CoffeeScript, and Linux server management – plus many other technologies. I build web applications and custom application servers. My dark past even includes writing distributed computing systems, physics simulations, and customized firewalls. (I had too much free time in high school.) In short, I’ve seen some stuff and am ready for anything!
I have a failed startup experience: 3 months in the top Sydney accelerator Startmate, pitching in Silicon Valley, the lot. The business crashed and burned, but boy, did I learn heaps.
I am no longer a code typist only doing what he’s told. I seek to understand your motivation, needs, and aspirations, the big picture. Then I design and create a solution that works for you.
